Watercolor is something we learn in art classes in elementary school. It’s easy to use and easy to clean up, best of all you don't need a huge investment to get started. Now that does not mean there are not expensive brushes and paints out there; there are, and those are great once you decide you like watercolor. For a beginner, a starter set is fine. You can get them at a craft store for about $10-$14. Get the tube kind to start. A set of value brushes is alright as well; just make sure the bristles aren't falling out. A cup of water and some paper and you are ready to get started.
